Authorian Legends: Kurt Vonnegut

#87: Kurt Vonnegut_The Sirens of Titan Sirens of Titan represented the total works of Vonnegut at number 87. It was his first novel, published in 1958. PBS describes this classic as “an outrageous romp through space, time, and morality. The richest, most depraved man on Earth, Malachi Constant, is offered a chance to take a…

The Big Read

In the summer and fall of 2018, PBS did a wonderful thing. They hosted “The Great American Read” which was more than just a series about reading books. Meredith Vieira showcased many great authors, both living and otherwise, then invited viewers to vote for their favorites. The presentation was novel (I’m sorry) because some famous…

An Homage to The Beard Guy

I’ve only been listening to Walk Off the Earth for the past couple of years. But they spark. I don’t know how else to describe it. R. E. V. O., the first album of theirs I listened to, was already two or three years old when I heard it for the first time. REVO is…

Off We Go . . .

Here we go, each of us, blazing a trail into the new year. So much excitement going on these past few months preparing for the next phase of our journey together. For me, a lot of this is manifest in developing this latest website that I am lunching today. I have worked to redesign this…

Thoughts on Thoreau

Several items on my old site went away, and one which I deemed important was the picture and quote I included from one of my mentors, Henry David Thoreau. The quote, which is from Walden says, “If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance…

The Sequel Is Out!

After seven long years of anticipation and three mini-incarnations, In Search of Space and Thyme is now available in hardcover and paperback at your favorite online or brick and mortar bookseller. Sitting alone in his basement apartment, Space Larrabee wades through his dark night of the Soul hoping to reassemble the pieces of his broken world into a new life.

Two interwoven love stories as told by Space and Thyme usher us through seven spirited years of discovering love and searching for deeper meaning in the seventies. Space is led to a nameless path with no roadmap. Thyme sets off on another course. This tapestry unfurls into a compelling, sophisticated story incorporating a wealth of cultural references in the arts, science fiction, mythology, music, poetry, and otherworldly experiences.

Explore this world and beyond through the adventurous eyes of Space and Thyme. You may just see your own reflection.

Praise for D. E. Munson

Munson's style is literary, articulate, fast-paced, witty, and graphically descriptive in detail.

--Laurel Means, Author, The Long Journey Home

OMG, I can't wait to read the sequel! Space's teen years remind me sooooo much of mine and I just loved reading your book so much.
-Lux Kronos, Author, The Magic Necklace

Will it end well? No don't tell me. I want to know but I don't want to know....How deliciously beautiful.

"In By the Time I Got There, D. E. Munson not only writes a compelling story of a youthful journey from first freedoms to falling in love, but also he captures the tone, the attitudes, and the values of an unforgettable era.  Relive the 60s and 70s with this enjoyable tale that includes past lives, out-of-body experiences, young love, far-out dreams, and psychedelic wonders.  If you missed the fabled Woodstock Festival, as Space Larrabee did, you'll be able to tune in to its drama, music, and wonder with this debut novel.  Cool!"

--Allen and Linda Anderson, New York Times Bestselling Authors of A Dog Named Leaf

"I finally had a chance to read your book!  Congratulations.  I know how much work these books are and you did a great job.  It was a good read for a long flight I had to take this month."  --Mary Carroll Moore, Author, Quality of Light

"Dear DE, De man. I met you briefly at the close of your Borders book signing last weekend. You disrupted my sleep for the next 2 days and 3 nights as I stole all available time with your book. It was a very pleasurable read. I had just finished reading " Not Fade Away" another journey through our generation's time and space. I feel that the time for our stories has never been better than right now, and we who lived through the 60's and early 70's participated {some of us} , in a great flowering, the seeds of which can still germinate and bear some much needed fragrance today. Thank you for putting it down so nicely. As I told you, I too almost made it to Woodstock, but never really left it at the same time."

--Bob Ockenden, Jazz Guitarist

"Awesome!"
--David Young, Grammy Award nominee, Mystery of Destiny

It's a Party . . . It's a Love Story . . . It's a Spiritual Quest

Space Larrabee had planned to go to the 1969 Woodstock Festival, but he misses it because he procrastinates. Zoned out while working at the Big Blue, he's too paranoid to deal with the traffic. He does end up getting there, however--five years late!
Experience what happens when Space meets Thyme. Explore their inner and outer universes as the shadow of Atlantis slowly looms over the music, psychedelia, and dreams of their life and times.
Atlantis surfaces periodically in Space's life as a physical antagonist, especially at the Sufi meditation camp they attend at Woodstock, New York in 1974. He surfaces again three years later with a surprise move that shatters the world of Space and Thyme.
